WAINVAM-E develops a technology based on the quantum properties of the NV centers of diamonds, to propose metrology solutions that can be used in:
The particular structure of nano-diamonds with NV centers gives them fluorescence properties that depend, among other things, on the surrounding magnetic field.
Nano-diamonds can be used both as a magnetic field sensor and as a fluorescent marker.
Nano-diamonds, used as a magnetometer, can be combined with the WAINVIEW relaxometer that we are developing, in order to detect and measure extra and intracellular magnetic species.
Nano-diamonds are particularly sensitive to the presence of free radicals and will therefore allow the identification and understanding of the cellular mechanisms involved in the production of free radicals during normal or particular physiological situations such as in cancer cells or during cellular ageing.
Consequently, they will allow the identification and monitoring of the efficacy of antioxidants.
Nano-diamonds can be functionalised, i.e., coated with molecules that will recognize and bind to biomolecules of interest such as proteins, DNA, etc.
The nano-diamonds are then transformed into targeted and selective fluorescent markers.
This process makes it possible to mark and detect cellular targets, secreted molecules, or to measure expression levels and monitor biological reactions.
Non-toxic, they can penetrate cells, making them ideal as intracellular markers.
Stability of their fluorescence: no flickering or bleaching.
They allow detection of very low levels of markers, when functionalised and observed with the WAINVIEW microscope, WAINVAM-E‘s NV confocal microscope.
Their optical and quantum properties allow them to reach the ultimate limit of detection of a single paramagnetic ion.
